The Maharashtra assembly election results were declared on Saturday, and celebrations quickly followed for the newly elected candidates. However, a victory celebration turned tragic in the Chandragarh Assembly Constituency when a fire broke out, injuring several people, including newly elected independent candidate Shivaji Patil.
Shivaji Patil, who contested as an independent candidate, defeated rivals from both NCP factions led by Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar. Following his victory, his supporters organized a celebratory procession in Mahagaon. During the festivities, a tragic accident occurred.
According to eyewitnesses, some women were performing a ritual for Shivaji Patil when a large amount of debris from a crane fell onto their makeshift slabs. The debris triggered a fire, injuring several women and Patil himself.
Videos of the incident quickly went viral on social media, capturing the chaotic aftermath. Police and fire department teams rushed to the spot, extinguished the fire, and rescued the victims. The injured were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
This incident cast a shadow over the celebrations as authorities launched an investigation into the cause of the accident and safety measures during the event.
