Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan gave a significant gift during his first visit to India. Both nations focused on boosting energy cooperation and signed four important agreements. During his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Crown Prince pushed to strengthen strategic relations.
India and the UAE will work together more closely in nuclear energy and petroleum. The first agreement is a long-term LNG supply deal between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Indian Oil Corporation Limited. The second agreement involves the Emirates Nuclear Energy Company and Indian Nuclear Energy Corporation Limited, covering the operation and maintenance of the UAE’s Barakah nuclear power plant.
The third agreement connects India Strategic Petroleum Reserve Limited to this energy cooperation. The fourth agreement, a production concession for Abu Dhabi’s Onshore Block-1, was signed between Energy India and ADNOC. This will allow India to import crude oil, helping the country enhance its energy security.
The UAE will also build a food park in Gujarat. The Gujarat government and Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company PJSC signed a separate agreement for this project.
The Ministry of External Affairs reported that Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan landed in New Delhi on 8 September for his first official visit. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal welcomed the Crown Prince upon arrival.
The Ministry highlighted the historically close and friendly ties between India and the UAE. In recent years, their comprehensive strategic partnership has expanded across sectors like trade, investment, connectivity, energy, technology, education, and culture.
In February, Prime Minister Modi visited the UAE and met UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. They signed eight agreements to deepen bilateral relations.
