The dispute between India and Canada escalates over the killing of Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nizaar. Recently, reports emerged suggesting that the US might consider expelling Indian diplomats working in Washington.
However, the US government has denied these reports. Official spokesperson Matthew Miller stated, “There are no plans to take action against Indian diplomats.” He emphasized that the government is unaware of any such reports and that claims regarding the expulsion are untrue.
Last month, Canada accused Indian diplomats of involvement in Nizaar’s murder, prompting an investigation into the officers. In response, New Delhi recalled six Canadian diplomats, firmly opposing Canada’s actions. Similarly, India expelled six Canadian diplomats from New Delhi, intensifying the conflict between Ottawa and New Delhi.
Amidst this turmoil, rumours circulated that the US might expel Indian diplomats in solidarity with Canada. Nevertheless, the United States has clarified that these claims hold no truth.
