Jaishankar Emphasizes Peace as Key to Trade at SCO Meeting in Pakistan

Foreigners showcased their talents at the SCO meeting held in Pakistan. Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized that terrorism will never enhance trade and communication by attacking Pakistan.

He stated, “If terrorism and xenophobia prevail on the borders of two countries, supporting bilateral trade and relations becomes impossible. Development and growth always depend on peace and stability. Unless terrorism is eradicated, there can be no progress. The main goal of the SCO is to combat terrorism, separatism, and extremism. Globalization and maintaining balance are core issues that SCO member states must advance.”

Jaishankar further highlighted the need for good dialogue, trust, and strong relations among nations, emphasizing that commitment is essential. “Countering the three threats of terrorism, separatism, and extremism requires the SCO to remain uncompromising in its efforts,” he said.

He added that cooperation must be based on mutual respect and sovereign equality. Regional integrity and sovereignty should be acknowledged, and true partnerships must be built on more than a one-sided agenda. “If we prioritize only trade and commerce, the SCO cannot progress effectively,” he warned.

In addition, he congratulated Pakistan for successfully organizing this year’s SCO conference, stating that India fully supports Pakistan in making this presidency a success.
