Spiritual preacher Jaya Kishori, recently criticized on social media for carrying a Dior bag valued over two lakh rupees, has addressed the controversy directly.
A video and photo showing 29-year-old Jaya Kishori with a Dior Book Tote at the airport sparked online criticism due to the bag’s cost, which is reportedly around Rs 2 lakh.
In response, she stated, “From the very beginning, I have clarified that I am not a saint or a holy person. I am an ordinary girl, living in a regular household with my family. I tell young people the same—work hard, save money, provide a good life for yourself and your family, and pursue your dreams.”
Jaya Kishori added that although the Dior Book Tote is pricey, it is a customized product. She emphasized that no leather was used in the bag’s design.
“This bag is a custom piece with no leather. Customization allows you to personalize it, which is why my name is on it. I have never used leather and never plan to,” Jaya said.
She also addressed misconceptions about her teachings, saying, “Those who attend my talks know that I have never claimed that everything is an illusion. I’ve never told anyone to abandon earning money or give up on life. How could I advise anyone to do so?”
