However, the BJP has distanced itself from Kangana’s statement. It is not a party statement.
LJP Chief and Union Minister Chirag Paswan said, ‘This is Kangana’s personal statement, it could be her thoughts. This is not a party statement.’ Similarly, BJP spokesperson Gururam Bhatia termed Kangana’s comments as her personal statement.
On the other hand, Delhi Congress chief Devendra Jacob has raised questions about it. He said, ‘The question to think about is who is promoting Kangana Ranaut? Why doesn’t the team stop him? The woman had earlier called the farmers terrorists. This is a shameful statement for the farmers. Does BJP have tacit consent in this?’
Similarly, Janata Dal United’s senior leader KC Tyagi has also targeted Kangana’s statement. He said, ‘Kangana’s statement is an insult to the farmers. BJP should take action against him. This is an insult to the Prime Minister’s decision. We were also against this agriculture law, we are against Kangana Ranaut’s statement.’
After the controversy escalated, Kangana, the Mandi MP of Himachal Pradesh, also tweeted X and said that it was her personal statement. “My views on the Agriculture Act are personal and have nothing to do with the party,” he tweeted.
Thousands of farmers went on strike in November 2020 to protest the Three Farm Bills. Later, the central government abolished it in November 2021.
