Bollywood star and Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut has thrilled her fans by announcing the release date of her upcoming film ‘Emergency’. The Censor Board cleared the film on October 17, and Kangana shared the news on social media, confirming the certification.
Fans eagerly awaited the release date, which has now been set for January 17, 2025.
‘Emergency’ faced significant controversy before its clearance. Sikh organizations protested, claiming the film misrepresented their community. After the trailer’s release on August 14, protests erupted in Punjab, demanding a ban on the film. The issue escalated when the Sikh community challenged the initial Censor Board certificate in Madhya Pradesh and the High Court. The court instructed the Censor Board to address the concerns before approving the film.
Meanwhile, the filmmakers approached the Bombay High Court for intervention. The Censor Board then formed a committee and suggested changes to certain controversial scenes. After incorporating the changes, the film finally received a clean chit.
In ‘Emergency’., Kangana portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and also serves as the film’s director and producer. The cast includes Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, and Mahima Chaudhary in key roles.
