Police confiscated a cattle-loaded mini truck while it was transported to other states from Tire Barikpur Hat in Balasore district. The operation led to the rescue of numerous cattle, and officers arrested two individuals involved in the incident.
The rescued cattle were relocated to the Tire cowshed for safety. Reports revealed that cattle mafias used containers to transport the animals to foreign countries. Acting on a tip-off, Tire police conducted the raid and foiled the smuggling attempt.
Cattle smuggling remains rampant in Balasore, with mafias frequently transporting livestock to West Bengal. Despite awareness of these activities, police inaction has raised questions about their role in addressing the issue.
