In a unique incident in Madhya Pradesh, BJP MLA Pradeep Patel refused to install a new transformer in a village until a young man quits his gutkha habit. The young man had approached Patel to address the electricity issues in his village, filing a formal complaint. However, Patel became frustrated when he noticed the man chewing gutkha.
The MLA immediately called the young man’s mother, questioning why she hadn’t stopped her son’s gutkha habit. He then asked a senior officer and his mother to persuade him to quit the addictive substance. Patel declared that no transformer would be installed until the youth gave up gutkha. “I am committed to working for everyone,” he stated, “but I will never support anyone who consumes substances like gutkha, tobacco, marijuana, or alcohol.”
