Super Typhoon Yagi caused heavy rainfall and made landfall in Vietnam last night (Monday), leading to the collapse of Phong Chau Bridge. The bridge, which connects Lham Thao and Tam Nang districts, collapsed, sending a truck, 10 cars, and two bikes into the Red River, the government reported. Nearly 13 people remain missing, while rescuers have saved only three so far.
A video of the Phong Chau Bridge collapsing into the Red River is going viral on social media. In the video, a truck speeding across the bridge crashes into it, causing the driver to struggle for control. The driver managed to stop the vehicle before it fell, but the truck remains in the river. A bike traveling behind the truck also met with an accident as the rider suddenly braked to avoid the collapse.
One side of the bridge was completely destroyed, while the other side remained intact for about 300 meters. Notably, Super Typhoon Yagi has claimed about 50 lives in Vietnam, with widespread damage to homes and infrastructure.
