Prime Minister Narendra Modi has apologized to the elderly citizens of West Bengal and Delhi, expressing regret for not being able to serve them. He criticized the ruling TMC in Bengal and AAP in Delhi for blocking the central government’s Ayushman Bharat scheme, which prevents senior citizens in these states from receiving benefits.
Today, Modi expanded Ayushman Bharat’s scope, announcing free medical treatment for seniors over 70 nationwide. He praised the scheme, emphasizing its value, while condemning the Bengal and Delhi governments’ refusal to implement it for political reasons.
“Senior citizens in Delhi and Bengal will miss out on Ayushman Bharat benefits due to their government’s refusal to adopt the program for political motives,” Modi stated.
He added, “People over 70 will now receive free treatment and an Ayushman Vaya Bandana Card, but seniors in Bengal and Delhi will not have access. I apologize to everyone over 70 in these states, as I am unable to serve them directly. Although I can keep track of their situation, I am unable to extend help due to the lack of cooperation from their governments.”
Accusing the Bengal and Delhi governments of inhumane actions, Modi said, “Denying your citizens critical health services for political gain is unacceptable. I sincerely apologize to the senior citizens of these states. I can serve seniors across the country, but political barriers prevent me from assisting those in Bengal and Delhi.”
