Police have uncovered the brutal murder of elderly woman Snehalata Dixit and her daughter Serendri in Maneswar Hatpada, under Sambalpur Sadar police jurisdiction. The two were killed over property disputes. Authorities arrested Jagannath Dixit and his son, the main suspects in the incident. Today, the police will reconstruct the crime scene with the accused.
According to police sources, Jagannath and his son suffocated Snehalata and Serendri while they were at home. They then opened a gas cylinder in the house and set it on fire, attempting to make the murder appear as an accident.
Yesterday, the fire that engulfed Snehalata and Serendri killed them both. The fire brigade responded quickly and extinguished the flames, but Serendri perished in the fire. The police, along with a scientific team, recovered the bodies and sent them for autopsy. The younger daughter of Snehalata, who had reported the crime, filed a complaint. The police detained and questioned four family members, including Jagannath’s son. Later, they arrested Jagannath and his grandson.
Snehalata had four daughters and one son. Two of her daughters had died earlier, while Serendri was the third to die in this tragic incident. Snehalata and Serendri lived in the mansion, while Jagannath and his family resided on the ground floor.
