Ukraine has carried out its largest assault on Moscow yet, launching 34 drones simultaneously and triggering panic across the Russian capital. The strike shut down Moscow’s three main airports, causing significant disruption and damage, though reports have not confirmed any deaths. Russia’s Defense Ministry labelled the assault a “terrorist attack” and vowed that Ukraine would face serious consequences.
The ministry announced that Russian forces destroyed 36 Ukrainian drones over Western Russia and indicated that Ukraine deployed aircraft-style drones in the strike. Despite Russia’s defences, Ukraine’s drones reached Moscow, where the Federal Air Transport Agency diverted 36 flights from Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, and Zhukovsky airports. The agency confirmed that airport operations continue, though one person sustained injuries in the Moscow region.
In response, Kyiv reported that Russian forces attacked the city with 145 drones between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Ukraine claimed to have destroyed 62 of those drones during Russia’s assault.
