In the South Africa series, both star pacers, Mohammad Shami and Deepak Chahar, will not be included in the matches. Shami, who rested after the first two Test matches, will play in the ODIs against South Africa due to fitness concerns as reported by BCCI sources.
Additionally, Deepak Chahar won’t be part of the South Africa tour due to family issues, as per BCCI’s information. The BCCI has mentioned that, due to family health reasons, Chahar will not be available for the upcoming ODI series. BCCI has provided details on the entire matter through a tweet.
Currently, Akash Deep is given a chance in place of Deepak Chahar. According to sources, after the conclusion of the first ODI in Johannesburg on December 17, Shreyas Iyer will join the Test squad for the Test series against South Africa. He will be available for the second and third Tests but won’t be part of the ODI series squad beyond the first match. Additionally, he will participate in the intra-squad match.
