Seven-Day National Mourning Declared for Manmohan Singh

Manmohan Singh, the former Prime Minister, economist, and politician, passed away last night at the age of 92 at Delhi AIIMS. His demise has left the nation in deep mourning.

The central government has declared seven days of national mourning to honour Manmohan Singh. The government has cancelled all programs for today as part of the national mourning. Officials will conduct his funeral with full national honours, but they have not yet disclosed the specific time and location.

The Congress Party has also cancelled all its programs for the next seven days to mourn Mr Singh’s passing. The party has announced that it will not celebrate its foundation day this year, describing his death as an irreparable loss. All Congress programs remain suspended until the 3rd of next month, and the party’s flag will fly at half-mast during this period.

As Finance Minister in PV Narsingh Rao’s government, Manmohan Singh brought groundbreaking reforms to the Indian economy, reshaping it for modern times. His wife, Gursharan Kaur, and their three daughters were by his side in his final moments.
