Torrential rains have severely flooded Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, causing extensive damage. Floodwaters have submerged hundreds of villages, blocking city markets and residential areas. Authorities now operate boat services on motorized walkways to navigate the inundated streets.
In both states, the floods have washed away roads and destroyed train lines. Vijayawada and Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh face the worst impact, with areas like Ramakrishna Puram in Vijayawada and Guntur completely waterlogged. Vehicles, including bikes, autos, cars, and trucks, float on the streets.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu assessed the damage by boat. In Telangana, Khammam district has suffered the most. Eleven villages are underwater, and rescue operations are ongoing for hundreds of stranded people. The floods have claimed 27 lives so far, and the toll is expected to rise as search efforts continue.
Authorities have closed all schools in both states today and advised employees to work from home. The flooding has disrupted train services: 140 trains on the South Central Railway line are canceled, and 54 have been rerouted. Additionally, five trains passing through Odisha, including the Howrah-SMVT Bengaluru Express and the Howrah-Puducherry Express, are canceled.

The weather department has issued a red warning in several districts due to the heavy rains. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has contacted the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, offering support from the central government to manage the flood crisis.
