Senior CPI(M) leader and general editor Sitaram Yechury is in critical condition. Doctors at Delhi’s AIIMS are providing him with oxygen through a machine.
At 77, Yechury entered the hospital’s ICU due to worsening respiratory issues. A special medical team is closely monitoring his health. On August 19, he was admitted to a special ward for pneumonia and later moved to the ICU and placed on a ventilator. He had previously undergone cataract surgery.
Yechury, a prominent CPI(M) member, helped draft the Common Minimum Program for the United Front government in 1996 and played a key role in forming the UPA in 2019.
