Sadguru Jagi Basudev has received great relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has dismissed all the charges against him following the police investigation in the Isha Foundation.
The court said, “It is completely inappropriate for the police to investigate the ashram as per the orders of the Madras High Court.” The girls living in the ashram are minors. They are living there as they wish. Therefore, there can be no further judicial proceedings against the Sadhguru, nor will there be an investigation into his foundation.
However, a retired professor, S Kamaraj, filed a complaint against the Isha Foundation in the Madras High Court. He alleged that his daughters Lata and Geeta were kept hostage in Sadguru Jagi Basudev’s ashram in Coimbatore by misleading them in various ways.
On September 30, the Madras High Court heard and ordered the Tamil Nadu police to investigate. The next day, on October 1, more than 150 policemen reached the ashram and started a search. Sadguru challenged this in the Supreme Court and filed an appeal.
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice DY Chandrachud, held a hearing on October 3 and stayed the order of the Madras High Court. The police said that they could not conduct any inspection in the ashram till further hearing. Today, the Chief Justice dismissed all the allegations.
