A devastating accident occurred at Laxmannath Tollgate under Jaleshwar police station in Balasore district. A container truck caught fire after crashing into the tollgate, burning the driver alive.
The truck, loaded with tea, was travelling from West Bengal to Tamil Nadu late last night. It broke through the safety barrier of the tollgate’s 6th lane and struck the tollgate at high speed, igniting a massive fire. Despite the severe damage to the tollgate, the staff on duty escaped unharmed.
Authorities suspect brake failure or driver fatigue might have caused the accident.
Upon receiving information, the fire brigade quickly arrived at the scene and extinguished the flames. Jaleshwar police also reached the site to investigate the incident.
