BJD and BJP workers clashed over the New Year for accruing areas for decorative gates. on Durgamandap Street in Kendrapara district, sparking tension and suspicion. The administration invoked Section 163 of BNSS to control the escalating situation.
The conflict began when BJP workers started erecting the Toran, which BJD workers strongly opposed. The disagreement quickly turned into a confrontation, raising tensions in the area.
Police intervened to diffuse the clash and summoned both parties to the station for mediation. Despite efforts to resolve the issue, both groups insisted on their right to construct the decorative gate. In response, the administration imposed Section 163 to prevent any further escalation.
Under the magistrate’s orders, activities on Durgamandap Street have been banned until further notice. The police have been deployed to maintain order.
NY Magistrate Shantate Mishra confirmed the ongoing dispute over the accruing place for the decorative gate and explained, “We attempted to mediate, but no resolution was reached. Section 163 will remain in effect for up to two months unless both parties settle the matter earlier.”
Neither the BJP, BJD, nor police have commented on the situation so far.
