Construction workers were actively working when a building suddenly collapsed, resulting in the deaths of 5 individuals. Authorities now fear that 3 workers remain trapped under the rubble in Bengaluru.
The city has experienced heavy rains over the past few days, significantly impacting residents’ lives. Due to the downpour, an under-construction 7-storey building collapsed on Tuesday evening at Anjanadri Layout in Babusapalia.
Rescue teams quickly responded, pulling 13 individuals safely from the debris. Initially, reports indicated that 17 workers were trapped under the rubble. However, rescuers arrived on the scene and successfully saved 8 people during the night. Unfortunately, 5 of those rescued did not survive, and concerns remain that 3 to 4 more workers are still trapped.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D. Shivakumar stated that while the government cannot prevent such disasters, it is actively taking necessary steps for relief and rescue efforts. Multiple teams work diligently to save lives, using pumps to remove water from affected apartments and areas. Both state and national disaster response forces engage in ongoing rescue operations.
