Two Temples Looted Overnight in Khurda: Worshipers Report Stolen Ornaments

Drunk robbers targeted two temples in Khurda district overnight, resulting in significant thefts. Worshipers accuse the thieves of stealing valuable gold, silver ornaments, and idols from both the Triveni Tirth Beleswar temple and the Diwani Patna Dulla Devi temple.

Thieves broke the lock of the Beleshwar temple in Triveni Tirth last night, using tools to loot the premises. They made off with a metal snake, a brass snake, and a silver and gold crown of Shiva Parvati, along with other valuable ornaments. This morning, a worshiper discovered the broken lock and promptly alerted the police and local residents.

At the Diwani Patna Dulla Devi temple, thieves also stole jewels belonging to the deity. Villagers captured one thief while others managed to escape. The Balipatna police station is actively investigating the incidents. Local residents express concern over the rising thefts, attributing them to a lack of police patrols in the area.

The villagers demand better security measures to protect their temples and community.
