West Bengal Sets Deadline for Tourists to Leave Digha Amid Cyclone Preparations

The governments of Odisha and West Bengal are emphasizing zero casualties as the potential cyclone ‘Dana approaches land in a severe form. The Meteorological Department estimates that it will pass between Odisha’s Puri and West Bengal’s Sagardeep.

To ensure public safety, authorities had previously ordered tourists to leave Puri, and now the West Bengal government has implemented the same policy. They have instructed tourists to vacate Digha immediately.

The Bengal administration has set a deadline for departure from Digha by 12:00 PM today. Additionally, they have announced that no new hotel bookings will be allowed in Digha until the 26th. Following this directive from the West Bengal government, tourists have begun to check out of hotels and leave Digha.

This order specifically targets tourists visiting the Digha beach near the Odisha border. The expected storm may make landfall between tomorrow night and the morning of the 25th. This precautionary measure aims to address the anticipated increase in wind speed and rough sea conditions associated with the storm.
