Two MLAs from the ruling TMC party have suffered fatal attacks in West Bengal, with both incidents occurring at different locations. The victims include Minkha MLA Usharani Mandal and Madgekhali MLA Sukumar Mahata. Authorities have launched investigations into these two attacks.
According to police reports, the assault on Usha Queen Mandal took place on Thursday as he returned home from the Kali Puja Pendal. More than a hundred individuals surrounded him on the road, pulling him from his car and beating him. Mandal noted that gunfire erupted during the chaos and suggested that a suspended party leader might be behind the attack.
Sukumar Mahata, who faced a similar attack, recounted, “I was returning home after inaugurating the Kali Puja Pendal when some assailants launched a surprise attack on my lane.” He stated that a party activist who accompanied him also sustained injuries and required admission to a medical centre.
The police have initiated investigations into both incidents and arrested several individuals, continuing to pursue leads related to the attacks.
