The famous Kedarnath Peetha shop closed today after following the winter season worship rituals. It has remained closed since snowfall began and is expected to reopen in six months.
As one of the 11 Jyotirlingas, the world-renowned Kedarnath Peetha decorated itself with around 10 quintals of flowers for the occasion. The prayer commenced at 4:00 p.m., and the doors closed at 8:30 a.m. Today, lakhs of devotees gathered to have darshan of Baba Kedarnath.
Every year, Kedarnath Kapat closes on the day of Ahar Duj. During this time, the moving idol of the fifth deity worshipped at the Kedarnath Peetha is carried on a swing to the Okareshwar temple. The idol will reach Gaurikund, Sonprayag, and Rampur today.
Lord Kedarnath will be enthroned in the Okareshwar temple on the 5th. Devotees can have darshan of Baba Kedarnath there throughout the winter. This year, over 16 lakh pilgrims visited Baba Kedarnath.
Previously, the Gangotri Dham shop closed yesterday, while the Kedarnath Dham shop closed today. Reports indicate that the Badrinath shop will follow suit.
