The interim government of Bangladesh has ramped up its efforts to scrutinize Sheikh Hasina’s close aides, focusing on collecting evidence and preventing any from fleeing the country. Last night, Salman F. Rahman, Hasina’s industry and investment advisor, was arrested while attempting to escape disguised as a sailor.
Security forces, acting on a tip-off, increased their vigilance along the coast and apprehended Rahman from a boat. To evade capture, Rahman had significantly altered his appearance by shaving his beard and posing as a fisherman.

Rahman is accused of embezzling billions of dollars during his time as an advisor to the former Prime Minister. His arrest follows the recent detention of a Major General who was stopped from boarding a plane.
In a related development, Aamir Hamza Shatil has filed a murder case against Sheikh Hasina and six others. Shatil has reported receiving death threats from a French phone number, which he has brought to the attention of the authorities.
