Bengal Governor Dr. CV Anand Bose has voiced deep concern over the rape and murder of a female doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital. On Friday, Bose described the incident as “disturbing and shocking,” reflecting widespread disappointment and anger across the country.
In a statement to a news agency, Bose criticized the Kolkata Police, alleging attempts to tamper with or destroy evidence. He suggested that there may have been efforts to mislead the public into believing the case was a suicide.
Discussing the possibility of imposing President’s rule in Bengal, Governor Bose told, “The demand is noted, but I remain cautious. I have various constitutional options and prefer not to disclose my next steps publicly at this time.” He criticized the handling of the case by police officials, emphasizing that people have a right to know the truth.
The Governor also visited RG Kar Hospital following recent vandalism by miscreants. He stressed that justice for the victims is essential and that the entire society stands with those demanding it.
