Continuous torrential rain in Tripura since Monday has caused severe landslides and flooding. A major landslide occurred late Monday night in Debipur, South Tripura, killing seven people, including three family members: a woman and two children.
Revenue Secretary Brijesh Pandey reported that five people died in South Tripura, while one person each died in Gomati and Khowai districts. Two people are missing and buried under debris in Gomati and Khowai.
The heavy rain has caused rivers across Tripura to overflow, leading to widespread flooding. South Tripura and Gomati districts are the most affected. Rescue teams are working in the affected areas to assist with recovery efforts.
