A young man was apprehended on Sunday after threatening to blow up the Shahi Masjid Idgah and attempting to drive his car into the mosque. The incident occurred at 12:30 pm when Pushpendra, a resident of Meera Vihar Colony, approached the Idgah in a Wagonr car.
Police officers stationed at the Idgah barrier attempted to halt Pushpendra’s entry. However, he threatened to detonate a bomb, shocking the officers and attracting a crowd of onlookers. Despite extensive efforts to persuade him to surrender peacefully, Pushpendra remained uncooperative.
After a half-hour standoff, the police forcibly broke the car’s windows and took Pushpendra into custody. They then handed him over to the Govind Nagar police for further investigation.
Govind Nagar Police Station in-charge Devpal Singh reported that Pushpendra displayed erratic behavior and repeatedly misled the authorities during questioning. Pushpendra expressed anger over a previous traffic violation, claiming it was the cause of his outburst. Singh confirmed that Pushpendra’s actions indicated mental instability.
