Balochistan, Pakistan, has witnessed a sharp increase in anti-Pakistan violence recently. In two separate incidents, Baloch gunmen killed about 40 people. Reports indicate that August has become the deadliest month in Balochistan over the past six years, with the majority of violence occurring this month.
The Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) has reported a significant rise in anti-government violence in August, marking it as the most turbulent month in six years. The institute’s Monday report revealed that violence in Pakistan claimed at least 254 lives in August. This figure includes 92 civilians, 108 terrorists, and 54 armed soldiers, with around 150 people injured, including 88 civilians.
Recent times have seen a dramatic increase in terrorist activities across Pakistan. August recorded the highest number of terrorist incidents in six years, totaling 83. These attacks resulted in 175 deaths, including approximately 47 security personnel, 92 civilians, and 36 terrorists. Additionally, 123 people sustained injuries, with 35 being security personnel and 88 civilians. Thus, since July 2018, August has been recognized as the most ‘dangerous’ month for violence in Pakistan.
