The death toll has reached eight after a building collapsed in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Many people are still feared trapped under the rubble. Rescue teams are working urgently and have been active throughout the night.
The collapse happened in Lucknow Transport City last evening. Rescuers have saved 28 people, who are now being treated at various hospitals. A joint team of NDRF, SDRF, fire brigade, and police is leading the rescue efforts. They are using drones to help with the search.
The collapse also damaged a nearby shop house and another building. A truck parked close to the building was destroyed and is buried under debris.
The building that collapsed was three stories high. The ground floor had mobile and spare parts, the middle floor stored medicines, and the top floor held gift items and other goods.
Authorities have rescued all the people trapped in the basement. It is still unclear how many people are trapped under the debris of the other two floors. Rescue operations are continuing as teams work to reach everyone affected.
