Bajrang Punia has reported a threatening WhatsApp message urging him to leave the Congress party. The message, sent from a foreign number, warned Punia that he and his family would be in danger if he did not quit the party.
The message read: “Leave the Congress, or you will be killed. This is our final warning. We will show our strength before the elections. You can complain if you want, but this is your last chance.”
Two days after receiving the threat, Bajrang Punia and wrestler Vinesh Phogat joined the Congress party. Phogat has been nominated for the Jhulana assembly seat in the Haryana elections, while Punia has been appointed as the acting president of the All India Farmers Congress.
The police have filed an FIR and are investigating the threat.
