An Audi car, reportedly owned by the son of a BJP leader, hit and seriously injured two people in a hit-and-run incident in Ramdaspet, Nagpur, Maharashtra. The car also collided with several other vehicles before locals caught the driver.
The youth involved in the accident is allegedly the son of Maharashtra BJP President Chandrashekhar Babankule. Babankule has called for an independent investigation, asking for transparency and justice.
Police arrested the driver and another youth in the car, but they were granted bail soon after, which upset locals who had helped catch them.
Police reported that the Audi first hit a car late Sunday night and then crashed into a two-wheeler, seriously injuring two riders. Afterward, the car hit more vehicles before locals chased it down and handed the two youths to the police.
Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Babankule confirmed the Audi was registered in his son Sabda’s name. He urged the police to conduct a fair investigation and insisted that the law should apply equally to everyone. Babankule also demanded strict action against anyone found guilty.
The hit-and-run has sparked public outrage, with locals demanding a full and impartial investigation into the incident.
