In the Kashipur police station area of Rayagada district, a father allegedly murdered his daughter’s boyfriend after luring them back home with a false marriage proposal. The accused, Vijay Majhi, reportedly killed Mangal Singh from Adatikiri village in a brutal attack.
Vijay’s daughter had eloped with Mangal, and the couple returned home within three days after Vijay promised to arrange their marriage. Unaware of Vijay’s true intentions, they arrived home happily last night.
Upon their return, Vijay violently attacked Mangal with a tang (a traditional weapon), leading to Mangal’s immediate death. Vijay also injured himself severely when his daughter attempted to intervene. He was initially admitted to Kashipur Group Health Centre in critical condition but was later transferred to Rayagada for further treatment.
Kashipur police are investigating the incident. Vijay, who has returned home following the murder, is currently evading capture. Authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend him.
