Communal Violence During Idol Demolition, 52 Detained

Police have detained 52 people in the incident of communal violence during the destruction of Ganesha idols in Karnataka. Today, the police have detained 52 people after taking the stone pelting friend to Podajala. Communal violence broke out in Mandya yesterday evening during the destruction of Ganesh idols.

According to information, a procession was taken out to dispose of the Ganesha idol in Nagamangala Town Thana area Mandya yesterday evening. Some people pelted stones during the procession on Mysore Road. They even threatened by swinging their swords.

As a result, the processionists attacked the other groups. Stone pelting ensued between the two groups. Agitators even set fire to some shops and blocked roads by burning tyres.

After receiving the news, the police reached the spot and tried to negotiate. But a policeman was also injured on the way. Today, the police have detained 52 people in this incident. Meanwhile, the relatives of the detained people have surrounded the police station. They have done nothing wrong and demand to leave immediately.
