A fatal incident struck Nagpur, Maharashtra, during the immersion of a Ganesh idol. A heavy crowd gathered, and an arrow shot into the air, ignited and fell on them, tragically burning 10 women to death. Chaos erupted in the area following the incident, and one woman remains hospitalized in critical condition.
On Thursday night, a large procession in Umred, Nagpur, for the Ganesh idol immersion saw men, women, and children filling the streets, dancing and singing. Fireworks lit up the sky as the celebration continued.
During the festivities, someone shot an arrow, and its fire fell directly onto the crowd. As panic spread, many tried to escape, leading to several injuries. Around 10 women sustained critical burns and were immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment.
The police have actively registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter.
