Mahaprabhu Jagannath, revered as the soul of millions, has faced disrespect, sparking widespread outrage. In a viral video, Yatra actor Kahnha carries the idol of Mahaprabhu Jagannath in one hand during a stage performance. As a result of his actions, which many deem offensive, a complaint has surfaced at the Badambadi police station in Cuttack.
Kahnha, a prominent actor in the Yatra troupe Singh Bahini, often plays villainous roles. However, in this case, his recent portrayal in the play “Vada Bedardi Kala Saant” crosses all boundaries. Throughout the performance, he insults the idol by throwing away garlands and handling the sacred figure like a toy. At one point, observers even see him hanging the idol from his hand.
Furthermore, Kahnha’s dialogue in the play enrages devotees. He declares, “I took Jagga for a walk… My Jagga stays in the temple 24/7, doesn’t he feel suffocated or bored? If Jagga has no life, why do you worship him day and night? My land has life, we eat, and so does Jagga. Enjoying sixty pages of print…”
As the video and photos of Kahnha’s act spread rapidly on social media, they trigger widespread condemnation. Consequently, shocked devotees question who allowed him to mistreat the idol of Mahaprabhu Jagannath, which holds deep spiritual significance for millions.
Today, in response to the outrage, someone lodged a formal complaint against Kahnha at the Badambadi police station, prompting authorities to begin an investigation. Additionally, devotees demand strict action against him.
Despite the mounting backlash, attempts to reach Kahnha and the Yatra organizers for comment remain unsuccessful.
