Train Services Halted After Freight Train Derails at New Maynagudi Station

A freight train derailed this morning at Mainagudi station in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, affecting five coaches of the goods train and causing significant disruption to train services.

Reports indicate that five wagons of the freight train derailed at New Maynagudi station in the Alipurdar division around 6:30 AM. As a result, train movement halted, and other trains currently wait at the station. Fortunately, the derailed wagons were empty.

The derailment also damaged the station’s water supply pipeline. Railway officials responded quickly to the scene after receiving reports of the accident, and they are currently conducting repair work. Train services along this route have faced disruptions, leading to rescheduling of many trains. Railway officials assured passengers that they will complete the repair work soon.

However, officials have not yet determined the cause of the accident. The Divisional Infrastructure Manager (DIRM) of Alipurdar Division confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.
