Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah suffered a setback as the High Court dismissed his appeal in the land corruption case. This case originated when Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot ordered legal action against him after RTI activist TJ Abraham filed a fraud complaint concerning land allotments by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
Siddaramaiah argued that the Governor’s order stemmed from political motivations and that the BJP orchestrated the move against him. However, Justice M. Nagaprasan ruled that the Governor holds the constitutional authority to make such decisions, allowing the investigation to proceed.
After the hearing on September 12, the High Court issued its ruling today, enabling police to file charges against Siddaramaiah and initiate an investigation into the allegations.
