When the name of actor Siddiqui surfaced in a sexual harassment case from the Malayalam film industry, fans experienced a shocking revelation. Siddiqui, a prominent star in Mollywood, faces accusations of sexually abusing an actress, prompting an uproar within the industry. Authorities registered an FIR against him, and now a lookout notice has been issued as he remains missing.
On Tuesday, the High Court rejected Siddiqui’s anticipatory bail plea related to the case. The court’s decision follows ongoing investigations by the SIT formed to address sexual harassment incidents in the film industry. An FIR was filed in Thiruvananthapuram concerning the matter.
The controversy escalated after multiple revelations emerged from the Hema Committee report, leading to scrutiny of various prominent actors, producers, and directors in Malayalam cinema. An actress accused Siddiqui of sexually harassing her in January 2016 at the Muscat Hotel.
Siddiqui denied the allegations, but the victim publicly recounted her experience, stating, “I had just completed my Plus Two when he contacted me through social media. Initially, I thought it was a fake account, but I later discovered it was real. After the preview show of his film Sukhamayirikkatte, he invited me for a discussion at Muscat Hotel. I was 21 years old at that time.”
She described how he called her “Mol” (daughter) and then proceeded to sexually harass her. Fortunately, she managed to escape. The actress labeled Siddiqui as a “number one criminal,” stating, “If he looks at himself in the mirror, he will see a criminal. I have lost my dreams and mental health because of him.”
