Former MLA and Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, who was tragically shot dead on Saturday, played a crucial role in reconciling the long-standing feud between Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. While he was a significant political figure, often regarded as a leader and protector in the political arena, in Bollywood, he was seen as a patron and mediator, especially during pivotal moments in the industry.
Back in 2013, the two biggest stars in Hindi cinema were embroiled in a cold war following a fallout at Katrina Kaif’s birthday party. Their rift created divisions within Bollywood, leaving producers concerned about the power struggle. Baba Siddique, though not directly tied to the film industry, stepped in to resolve the conflict in a remarkable way.

As an influential politician and serving MLA from the Bandra West constituency, Siddique’s iftar parties were a staple of Mumbai’s social scene, attracting numerous celebrities. After receiving requests from industry insiders to mediate, he cleverly arranged for Shah Rukh Khan to sit next to Salman’s father, the renowned screenwriter Salim Khan, at one such gathering.

A now-viral video captures the moment when Shah Rukh engaged in conversation with Salim before Salman approached. The two superstars exchanged nods and ultimately embraced, marking the end of their feud. Baba Siddique then joined them, inviting photographers to capture the moment, effectively utilizing the spirit of Eid and family bonds to mend the rift.
Baba Siddique had a long political career, spending 48 years with the Congress Party before joining the Nationalist Congress Party earlier this year. He served three terms as an MLA until 2013 and held a ministerial position in the Maharashtra government.
