Today, Janani Maa Durga takes over the world, celebrating her funeral procession. The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack prepare extensively for Ma’s grand send-off. Like last year, Puja Committees organize the Bhasana Festival to enhance the festivities.
In anticipation of the large crowds during the procession, the commissionerate police focus on law enforcement and traffic management.
Authorities issue restrictions for the Bhasani celebrations. They enforce a curfew from 3 AM until the end of the day. Vehicles cannot travel towards Rupali Street from Bhubaneswar’s Chavan Bihar through Shaheed Nagar; local traffic must use alternative routes via Acharya Bihar. Public roads will see a ban on vehicular movement, while vehicles heading to Cuttack via the CRP route can access Jaydev Bihar through Ekmar Park and Biju Patnaik College Road.
Additionally, no vehicles can pass through Keet Street towards Nalko Street during the celebrations in Chandrashekharpur. Heavy vehicles traveling to Khurda must use the flyover bridge from Fire Station Street.
In Cuttack, traffic restrictions apply: vehicles cannot travel from College Street to Chandin Chowk Street through Box Bazar and Triangular Gardens. The main road from Chowdhury Bazar Street to Pun Sahu Street, Jawanpatti, and Firingi Bazar to Devi Gada, as well as from Cuttack Chandi Street to Sheikh Bazar and Mohammadia Bazar Street to Chandin Chowk Street, remains closed to traffic.
