The Subhadra Yojana, launched by the Odisha government, aims to empower women by providing financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 over five years, promoting digital literacy, and improving health and education outcomes for over 1 crore women . However, its implementation has hit a roadblock in Shimilipal due to mobile network restrictions.
Local MLA and Forest Minister Ganesh Ram Khuntia acknowledged the scheme’s failure in Shimilipal, attributing it to network issues . The lack of internet access in the region’s dense forests and hilly areas prevents women from submitting online forms, updating KYC, or even learning about the scheme. To access these services, women must travel 50 km to Yashipur Bazar or spend the night in Jashipur.
The Odisha government has allocated Rs. 55,325 crores for the Subhadra Yojana, demonstrating its commitment to women’s empowerment . Minister Ganesh Ram Khuntia has pledged to involve more women in the scheme by working with women and child development department officials.
