Zeeshan Siddique Joins Ajit Pawar’s NCP Team Ahead of Maharashtra Elections

Zeeshan Siddique, son of former NCP leader Baba Siddique, has officially joined Ajit Pawar’s faction of the NCP amidst the Maharashtra elections. He joined the party today in a ceremony attended by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

As part of this announcement, Ajit Pawar’s NCP revealed its second phase candidate list, which includes Zeeshan, who will contest the assembly elections from the Bandra (East) seat. In 2019, Zeeshan won this seat while representing the Congress. This time, he will face a challenge from Uddhav Thackeray’s nephew, Barun Sardesai.

The current election features tough competition between Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, Congress, and Sharad Pawar’s NCP in the Maha Vikas Aghadi Alliance against the BJP and Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP. Both alliances have already announced half of their candidate lists.

Alongside Zeeshan, the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) announced seven additional candidates today. Sanjay Kaka Patil will contest from Tasgaon, Nishikant Bhosle from Islampur, Sunil Tingge from Badgaon Sherry, Jneseshwar Cutke from Shirur, and Pratap Patil from Loha. Additionally, Nawab Malik’s daughter, Sana Malik, will represent Anushki Nagar.

All 288 constituencies in Maharashtra will vote on the 20th, with results set to be announced on the 23rd following the counting of votes.
