Supreme Court Dismisses CBI’s Petition Against Rhea Chakraborty in Sushant Case

On Friday, the Supreme Court offered significant relief to actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Shouvik by dismissing a petition filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the State of Maharashtra.

The CBI had challenged the Bombay High Court’s decision regarding Look Out Circulars (LOCs) against Rhea in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. The Supreme Court rejected the appeal, calling it “frivolous.”

The Supreme Court criticized the case as “frivolous.” According to a report from Live Law, Justices BR Gavai and KV Vishwanathan noted that the petition targeted Rhea solely due to her high-profile status. When the CBI lawyer attempted to move forward, Justice Gavai cautioned, “We are giving a warning. You are filing such a small petition only because he is a high-profile person. You may have to pay a heavy price for this.”

In 2020, a Patna court registered a case against Rhea Chakraborty and her family, seeking an investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. The CBI subsequently took over the investigation and issued LOCs against Rhea’s family. The Bombay High Court cancelled these LOCs in February. The CBI then appealed to the Supreme Court, which also rejected their petition.

Sushant Singh Rajput tragically passed away on June 14, 2020. More than four years later, the mystery surrounding his death remains unsolved, prompting fans to trend “Justice for Sushant” daily on social media.

At the time of Sushant’s death, Rhea was in a relationship with him. Following his passing, her name emerged in a drug-related case, leading to her spending 28 days in jail.
