108 Ambulance Services to Halt on November 1 as Workers Statewide Go on Strike

The 108 ambulance service will shut down on November 1 as ambulance workers across the state strike. Around 1,300 ambulances will leave the highways, and over 6,000 workers will join the movement.

Reports indicate that the new employer deliberately left 200 employees without jobs, sparking this protest. Today, Maha Sangh meets with off-duty employees from 30 districts to present a demand letter to district magistrates and chief medical officers. The regulatory body has yet to respond.

Sriramchandra Acharya, State Secretary of the NY Ambulance Employees Union, confirmed that Green Health Service, a construction company, now manages 108 ambulance operations in Odisha and deliberately excluded 200 employees.

On October 30, all 1,098 ambulance staff statewide plan to disable GPS while continuing patient services as part of the protest. If the situation is not resolved, workers will halt 108 ambulance services and take to the streets starting November 1.
