BJP Expels 40 Rebel Leaders Ahead of Maharashtra Assembly Elections

The Maharashtra elections are approaching, and the BJP is taking decisive action ahead of the polls. The party has expelled 40 rebel leaders who revolted in 37 constituencies.

Earlier, Uddhav Thackeray also acted against the Shiv Sena-UBT rebels in Thakkar. He expelled five leaders for anti-party activities, including former Bhiwandi MLA Muresh Mahatre, Biswas Nandekar, Chandrakant Ghugul, Sanjay Awari, and Prasad Thackeray.

As the election date nears, all factions are adopting a tough stance against insurgents. Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently instructed Mahayuti leaders to ensure that no rebel contests the elections. Meanwhile, Maha Vikas Aghadi allies Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray have also issued warnings to the rebels.

The voting for 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra will take place on November 20, with results scheduled to be announced on November 23. This time, the BJP has fielded the highest number of candidates, followed by the Congress in second place. Shiv Sena, led by Uddhav Thackeray, is in third, Shiv Sena under Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stands fourth, and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s NCP ranks sixth.
