In Hyderabad, Telangana, a young man shot and seriously injured his girlfriend’s father after the father sent her abroad to end their relationship. The police arrested 25-year-old Balwinder Singh in connection with the incident.
Reports indicate that Balwinder became furious after learning that his girlfriend’s father, 57-year-old Revant Anand, had arranged for her to move to America to break off their affair. On Sunday, Balwinder went to the apartment where Anand lived. The two argued, and in a fit of rage, Balwinder shot Anand, injuring him seriously. Anand suffered eye injuries, and the glass of his car was shattered during the incident.
CCTV footage from the scene shows Balwinder entering the premises with an air gun and fleeing after firing the shot. The police have charged him with an attempt to murder under Section 109 and arrested him.
Balwinder had reportedly been harassing Anand’s daughter in the name of love, a situation that prompted the father to take action. The police are continuing to investigate the case.
