A major explosion at the Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) refinery in Vadodara, Gujarat, triggered a fire in the storage tanks. One worker died, and two others sustained serious injuries.
A police officer confirmed that a 32-year-old worker died in the incident. According to IOCL, the fire department began efforts to control the blaze at the benzene storage tank after receiving reports of the fire at around 3:30 pm. However, the cause of the fire remains unknown.
Inspector AB Mori from Jawaharnagar Police Station reported, “A labourer working manually at the refinery died in the fire.” He added that two others were seriously injured and have been hospitalized.
Vadodara Police Commissioner Narsingh Kumar assured that the situation at the IOCL campus is under control. He stated that the fire resulted from an explosion at the refinery in the Koyali area of Vadodara, and a video of the blast has surfaced. After the explosion, authorities evacuated other employees safely.
