A crack has appeared in the India Bloc as the leader’s influence begins to fade, and voices of protest rise. Following the defeats of the opposition in both the Lok Sabha and recent assembly elections, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has called for removing the responsibility of the India Bloc leadership from Congress and handing it over to Mamata Banerjee.
RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav made a bold statement in a TMC-led meeting, demanding that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee be appointed as the leader of the India Bloc. He argued that Congress’s protests held no weight and insisted Mamata should lead the India Bloc.
At the same time, Lalu Yadav asserted that his party would emerge victorious in the upcoming Bihar elections. He confidently stated that the RJD would form the government in Bihar in 2025. Criticizing Nitish Kumar, he predicted the RJD would take control in the state next year.
Mamata Banerjee, the TMC chief, recently expressed her dissatisfaction with the India Bloc’s underwhelming performance in the Haryana and Maharashtra assembly elections. She hinted that she was ready to challenge the India Bloc leadership if the opportunity arose.
